Spring Cleaning

September 5, 2005

There are just over two weeks left before the election. I have invested thousands of dollars of my own money into my campaign as Libertarianz candidate for Northland, as I believe so strongly in freedom. I have decided to raise some funds for the rest of my campaign in a slightly unorthodox way...

If I can raise over $500 in donations to my campaign, then I will cut my hair, currently shoulder length, to short-back-and-sides.

Moreover, if enough people donate, and I get over $1500, then I will shave my beard! Even Jasmine, my girlfriend of over three years, has never seen me without a beard.

This has not been an easy decision for me. I have grown quite attached to my hair, the facial part in particular. However, my campaign for the cause of individual liberty is much more important than petty vanity. :)

So, if you would like to contribute to a very worthy cause - the fight for your freedom - or if you just think I look like a hairy troglodyte, please donate to my campaign.

The NZ bank account number to deposit money into is:
National Bank
J.L. Pistorius
06-0169-0097127-01

Use "HAIR" as the reference when you make the payment. Email me at [email protected] to confirm your donation. I can also arrange for other payment methods.

I will have a running total on my website. You can choose to be named and thanked publicly, or your donation can be be listed without your name.

Every person who donates over $50 will receive a free copy of the latest edition of the The Free Radical magazine ( http://www.freeradical.co.nz/ ). It is edited by famous freedom-fighter and media celebrity, Lindsay Perigo. In this issue, Lindsay says why he will vote Libertarianz, and why he does not consider it a wasted vote.

You can help the fight for your own freedom, while beautifying the world :) - just by making a simple donation.

In case you were wondering, no, this has nothing to do with Bob Jones:

I have since had a request by 'B' to set up an opposing fund, to save my hair! :) Therefore, the first fund to get to $500 will decide the outcome.

To keep track of how the fundraising is going, I have set up a new post:

I propose a "Help Julian Save His Hair" fund. There is nothing more criminal than gorgeous long-haired guys cutting their hair off! Whichever fund receives the most donations will dictate what happens to Julian's hair.

What about getting rid of the hair and keep the beard? That way you can please all (being a politician!!), I hope that doesn't upset Jasmine! (my dear friend from uni)
